Why this matters
Nameservers identify where the authoritative zone is managed; individual records define destinations within it.
Step by step
- Find the current DNS operator before editing records in a hosting panel that may not be authoritative.
- Ask whether the task requires changing a website record or changing delegation; record the existing values before an authorised update.
- Check the intended record at the authoritative provider and then test the affected service from a normal client.
Keep the result of the final check and any unresolved question with your project records.
Availability depends on the product, permissions and management agreement. Use the existing support conversation for the same issue.
